What is outpatient hysteroscopy?

This is done by passing a 3 mm thin telescope through the neck of your womb (cervix), rinsing with saline water to optimize the image. The procedure takes about 15 minutes.

Before the appointment

It is recommended that you take pain relief /1 gram of paracetamol and/or 400 mg of ibuprofen (or whatever pain relief you find useful for period pain). Sometimes the gynecologist adds some local anesthetics.

After the appointment:

You might feel light bleeding and mild abdominal pain after the examination. Then it is recommended that you take pain relief /1 gram of paracetamol and/or 400 mg of ibuprofen every 6.-8. hour.

In case of heavy bleeding, severe abdominal pain or fever the following days you should consult a doctor.
